EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the second straight year, senior Hilary Bowen (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) has been named to the ESPN the Magazine District V Academic All-District first-team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Academic All-America at-large program encompasses all sports not covered by their own dedicated awards process. Each school is allowed to nominate up to three male and three female student-athletes for the at-large award; student-athletes must be starters or important reserves, have a minimum 3.30 GPA and be sophomores athletically and academically to be eligible.

Bowen, who was named a first-team Academic All-American last season, is a human development and psychological services major. She is a two-time NCAA Championship Most Valuable Player as well as a two-time All-American. Bowen has been a major contributor to Northwestern's top-ranked lacrosse team, recording 49 goals in 13 games this season, and her 51-game goal-scoring streak is the fourth-longest streak in NCAA history. She holds the Wildcats' single-season goal record (81 in 2008) and is third in the program's history in both points (293) and goals (213).

Bowen and the rest of her Wildcat teammates are in Towson, Md., vying for their fifth-straight national championship. The top-ranked 'Cats face fourth-ranked Penn at 5 p.m. Central Friday, May 22, in the NCAA semifinals at Johnny Unitas Stadium in a rematch of last year's championship game.
