NCAA South Central Regional Day One Results (PDF Format) ![]()
STILLWATER, Okla. -- Northwestern is tied for eighth position after the first round of the NCAA South Central Regional at Karsten Creek Golf Club after firing a 14-over 302 on Thursday.
Northwestern is tied with No. 33 Pepperdine, three shots away from the magical fifth-place position necessary for a berth in the NCAA Championships. No. 4 Oklahoma State leads with an 8-over 296 while three schools are knotted for second at 10-over 298.
Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) led the way for NU with a steady opening round of even-par 72, making three bogies and three birdies, including one on the par-5 18th. Freshman Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) made five birdies in his round, but a triple-bogey 7 on the first hole of his back side helped push him to a 2-over 74 in the first round.
Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Poway) had a great opening nine, finishing in 1-under after making a birdie on the eighth hole and an eagle on the par-5 ninth. He then fell to 6-over 78 on the round after coming in with a 7-over 43.
Junior David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) was 9-over through 12 holes before playing his final six in 3-under with three birdies and three pars, finishing with a 6-over 78. Andy DeKeuster (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) also had a 6-over 78 for the Wildcats, making birdie on the opening par-5 first and the closing par-5 18th.
