EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 12 Northwestern closes its 2009 home schedule this weekend when it welcomes No. 11 Ohio State to Sharon J. Drysdale Field for Senior Weekend and the third-annual Purple Auction.

The Wildcats and Buckeyes will square off in single games Saturday and Sunday, with first pitch for both slated for 1 p.m. CT. On Saturday, the third-annual Purple Auction will immediately follow the game in Welsh-Ryan Arena while Senior Day festivities will be held prior to Sunday's start.

Northwestern seniors Erin Dyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport), Ashley Lafever (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley), Jessica Rigas (River Forest, Ill./Oak Park River Forest) and Tammy Williams (Roscoe, Mo./Osceola) will be honored this weekend. An incredibly successful class with members who boast a career record of 171-55, two Big Ten titles, three NCAA Super Regional appearances, two Women's College World Series semifinal berths and 29 national television appearances, the 2009 seniors have excelled during their time in purple.

Dyer is having the best season of her prolific career, currently ranking in the top-10 in the nation in home runs per game and RBIs. She ranks third at Northwestern and seventh in Big Ten Conference history with 44 home runs.

Lafever transferred into Northwestern as a sophomore academically in 2007 and will forgo her final year of athletic eligibility to enter medical school. She has scored 36 times in a Wildcats' uniform and is a strong outfielder, bringing a sure seventh-inning home run back into the park during a win over then-No. 3 Texas A&M in 2008.

Rigas was an All-Big Ten selection in 2007 and owns 11 home runs with 34 RBIs and a .344 on-base percentage in her career. She clubbed an NCAA Tournament home run in 2007 and went deep against No. 1 Arizona in an NU win in 2008.

Williams is one of the best softballers in NCAA Division I history, entering this weekend ranked in the top-25 in the sport's history in runs scored, home runs and slugging percentage. She holds Northwestern's career home run record with 57 and is a finalist for the 2009 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award and the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
