2009 Lady Buckeye Team and Individual Standings Through Round Two
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Northwestern put together two of its strongest back-to-back rounds of the season, shooting a 299 and a 300 over the first 36 holes of the Lady Buckeye Invitational and sits in second place after the opening two rounds. The Wildcats, who sit at 23-over 599, trail the host Buckeyes by 10 strokes heading into the final round Sunday morning.
Sophomore Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) took charge early for Northwestern, shooting a season-best 1-over 73 through the first 18 holes. She was one of four 'Cats who cracked 80 in the opening round, as senior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) was one stroke back at 2-over 74 and sophomore Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) finished at 3-over 75. Freshman Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) was also in the hunt at 5-over 77 as NU closed out the first round with an 11-over 299 and in a three-way tie for second place.
Rebecca Lederhausen continued her strong play into round two, following it up with a 2-over 74 to finish the first 36 holes in a tie for third place on the individual charts at 3-over 149. Not to be outdone, Hong shot a 3-over 75 in round two and is also in the mix for the individual championship, sitting in a tie for seventh-place at 5-over 149.
Two other Wildcats find themselves among the top-20 as well, as Alex Lederhausen used a 2-over 74 in the second round to move into a tie for 12th place at 7-over 151, while Tantanavivat is one stroke back at 8-over 152, good enough for a 17th-place tie. Sophomore Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) shot a 17-over 161 through the opening two rounds to round out the NU scorecard.
Northwestern enters the final round in the hunt for its first team championship since the Challenge at Wolfdancer in 2007, trailing Ohio State by 10 shots with 18 holes to play. The 'Cats hold a four stroke lead on Kent State, the defending Lady Buckeye champions, and lead Big Ten rival Indiana by 10 shots.
