EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat senior Hannah Nielsen (Adelaide, Australia/Brighton Secondary) of the women's lacrosse team and Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) of the men's tennis team have been named the Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

Nielsen notched two assists and added a goal in Friday's 13-7 win against No. 4 Duke to pass fellow Australian Jen Adams as the NCAA's all-time leader in career assists with 180. She followed that up with a four-goal, three-assist performance in Northwestern's 21-4 rout of California on Saturday, raising her team-leading point total through 12 games to 82.

Sanborn won both of his No. 5 singles matches for NU this weekend, including a three-set come-from-behind victory against Peter Marrack to clinch Northwestern's dramatic 4-3 upset of No. 24 Wisconsin on Saturday. On Friday, Sanborn defeated Purdue's Roberto Cabrini and also partnered with Marc Dwyer to win the No. 1 doubles match, helping NU to a 4-3 road win against the Boilermakers.

This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is freshman Nick Fruendt (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) of the men's basketball team. Nick and other Northwestern student-athletes visited the St. Joan of Arc school recently to assist with the yoga aspect of the school's wellness programming. Nick taught the students ways in which yoga can benefit one's athletic performance and help keep you fit while leading them through a series of exercises.
