TUCSON, Ariz. -- Northwestern used a season-best 4-over 292 over the final 18 holes to jump up two spots at the Mountain View Collegiate, finishing sixth out of 18 schools. The 'Cats close out the 54-hole tournament with a 26-over 890 (297-301-292) and were led by senior Jennifer Hong's (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) fifth-place finish. Hong shot a 2-under 70 for the second time this weekend, and closed out the tournament with a 1-under 215 (70-75-70).

Entering the day in a tie for eighth-place with host Colorado, the Wildcats put together their best 18-hole performance of the season, as along with Hong's 2-under 70, freshman Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) shot an even-par 72, with sophomores Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) and Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) finishing with a 3-over 75 on the day. NU's 292 was tied with Louisville for the second-best round of the day.

Hong's fifth-place finish is her first top-10 finish of the season and the second for the 'Cats after Tantanavivat placed sixth at the Windy City Collegiate back in October. Tantanavivat was second on the NU scorecard with a 10-over 226 (77-74-75), with Lederhausen third at 11-over 227 (77-78-72) and Lindenschmidt fourth at 12-over 228 (79-74-75). Freshman Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats, finishing with a 26-over 242 (73-80-89).

Northwestern was just five strokes off the pace of recording it's first top-five finish of the season, as Colorado State held off the Wildcat charge. San Jose State (2-over 866) captured the team title, besting UNLV (11-over 875) by nine strokes and Louisville (15-over 879) by 13. Indiana (20-over 884) and the Rams (21-over 885) rounded out the top five. San Jose State's Erica Moston took home the individual title after recording a 7-under 209 for the weekend, including shooting a 68 and 69 over the final two rounds.

NU's sixth-place finish is tied for its best finish of the season after also placing sixth at the season-opening Mary Fossum Invitational, and has now finished in the top-10 in seven of eight tournaments. The Wildcats now look to take this momentum as they travel cross-country to compete in the SunTrust Lady Gator Monday, April 6 through Tuesday, April 7.
