RIO MAR, P.R. -- Northwestern is in a three-way tie for 12th place at the Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue at the Rio Mar Country Club River Course after carding a 9-over 297 in Saturday's second round.
The Wildcats have a 15-over 591 for the tournament, tied with Purdue and Minnesota. NU opened the tournament with a 6-over 294 on Friday. The final round of the Puerto Rico Classic will take place Sunday, March 1.
Senior Andy DeKeuster (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) had a 1-under 71 Saturday to pace the Wildcats, putting him in 31st place in the field with a two-day total of 2-over 146. Two strokes behind DeKeuster in a tie for 46th are David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) and Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson). Lipsky had a 4-over 76 on Saturday while Bowers carded a 3-over 75 to give them both 4-over 148 totals for the tourney.
Freshman Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) is in 50th place with a 5-over 149 after firing a 3-over 75 on Saturday. Rounding out the NU squad is Matt Denison (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North), who is in 74th position.
