Wildcats Edge Iowa at Match Play Championship

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Northwestern earned a spot in Saturday's match for fifth place with a win against Iowa in the Big Ten Match Play Championship in Coral Springs, Fla., in Saturday's morning session. Freshman Eric Chun notched his third win of the weekend as NU posted a 3.5-2.5 victory over the Hawkeyes.

Chun's impressive victory at No. 2 came over Iowa's Vince India by a 4 and 3 margin while Josh DuPont overcame Bradley George, 1 up, at No. 5.

Northwestern's third win of the match came at No. 6 where Matt Denison came away with a 1 up win over the Hawkeyes' Christ Brant. At the No. 1 position, NU's David Lipsky and Iowa's Cole Peevler halved their match, while Iowa collected wins at the third and fourth positions. Senior Andy DeKeuster fell 2 and 1 to Brad Hopfinger and junior Jonathan Bowers dropped a closely contested match to Barrett Kelpin, 2 up.
