Pat Fitzgerald to be Honored Locally by the NFF Chicago Metro Chapter

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern Coach Pat Fitzgerald will be honored by the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Football Hall of Fame at Halas Hall on Monday, February 23, 2009 for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

The NFF Chicago Metro Chapter Awards Ceremony will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at Halas Hall in Lake Forest, which is rarely open to the public. Space is limited to the first 120 people that register online at www.nffchicagoawards.eventbrite.com, where complete details about the event are provided.

As of January 7, 35 spots were available at a cost of $150 per person. Dave Eanet, voice of the Wildcats on WGN Radio, will introduce Fitzgerald. Jeff Joniak will be the master of ceremonies, Chicago Bears President/CEO Ted Phillips will be the keynote speaker, Northern Illinois University Head Coach Jerry Kill will receive the NFF Courage Award and $20,000 in college scholarships will be provided to local high school seniors that excelled on and off the football field.

Coach Fitzgerald is on the NFF Board of Directors with others such as Ron Zook, Chris Zorich, Bobby Douglass, Dan Jiggetts and 1953 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Lattner.
