Northwestern Closes Fall Schedule at CordeValle Collegiate

Nov. 2, 2008

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern will close the fall portion of its 2008-09 schedule Nov. 3-5 at the fourth annual CordeValle Collegiate at the par-72, 7,169 yard CordeValle Country Club in San Martin, Calif.

The Wildcats join 11 other teams in the field, including top-10 opponents Arkansas (No. 2), USC (No. 3), Stanford (No. 6) and Washington (No. 9). Host UCLA is the defending NCAA champion.

The tournament is a 54-hole event with 18 holes on each of the three days of the event. Unlike most collegiate events where five competitors comprise a team with four scores counting for each school, the CordeValle allows six players with five scores counting toward the team score.

Teams will tee off from both the first and 10th tees at 10 a.m. CT each day of the tournament. Live results can be found at Golfstat.com.

Northwestern has played in the event every year it has been held, finishing a program-best second in the inaugural CordeValle in 2005. The tournament annually attracts a strong field and the Wildcats always have finished in the middle or top half of the team standings, coming in fifth in 2006 and sixth in 2007.
