ITA Midwest Regional Main Draw Doubles
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern is one of 34 teams descending on the campus of Michigan State this weekend in hopes of leaving with an ITA Midwest Regional championship. Six Wildcats are set to compete in the main draw of the singles competition looking to bring a title back to Evanston for the second straight season after Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) captured the championship in 2007
In doubles action, the Wildcats are fielding three teams in the main draw, including Rose and junior Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid), a duo ranked No. 7 nationally. They begin competition Friday against Britney Larson and Rickie Honiball of Miami (Fla.).
Also teaming up are Murray and freshman Elena Chernyakova (Moscow, Russia/No. 150) as well as sophomore Maria Mosolova (Moscow, Russia/No. 204) and senior Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Keystone National).
Six members of the Northwestern squad will be in action in the main draw of singles play: Murray, Chernyakova, Robison, Lui, senior Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) and freshman Stacey Lee (Old Wesport, N.Y./Wheatley). Lee is coming off a 4-0 performance in Flight D singles play of the Wildcat Invitational.
