Herczeg forced a couple of saves later in the first half as the Wildcats continued to mount an assault. However, a breakaway goal in the 39th minute by the Hawkeyes evened the score at 1-1 heading into the break.
The second half stayed scoreless until the 86th minute when Greene took a pass from Janowitsch and deposited it into the net for her third goal of the year to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead.
The lead proved to be short-lived as Iowa used a shot from 30 yards out to even the score in the 89th minute. The game would go to the first of two overtime periods.
Edwards made the only save of the first overtime period and the teams would go to a second. After Herczeg had a shot blocked and Greene had one saved, Hoffman finally won it for the 'Cats in the 106th minute on a header off a cross from Jenny Dunn.
Hoffman's six goals pace the Wildcats while Dunn now sits with a team-leading 14 points.
