Windy City Collegiate First and Second Round Results

SKOKIE, Ill. -- Northwestern sits in seventh place heading into the final round of the 2008 Windy City Collegiate Classic at Evanston Golf Club, shooting a 36-over 612 (311-301) through the first 36 holes. The Wildcats trail sixth-place Texas by a stroke, and hold a one-stroke lead over both Illinois and Iowa State.

Sophomore Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) sits atop of the Wildcat scorecard through the first two holes, shooting a one-under 71 in the second round, and sits in fifth-place heading into the final round with a three-over 147 (76-71) on the day. Fellow sophomore Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) is second on the `Cats scorecard after an eight-over 152 (77-75) good enough for a tie for 21st.

Senior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) finished third among NU golfers with a 13-over 157 (80-77) and is currently tied for 39th-place. Freshman Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) shot a 15-over 159 (78-81) while freshman Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) rounded out the scoring for the `Cats with a 24-over 168 (90-78).

After shooting a 311 in the first round, Northwestern adjusted in the second round, shaving 10 strokes off its second round score to enter the clubhouse at 301, the fifth-best score in the second 18 holes. Purdue takes an eight stroke lead over Michigan into the final day of competition, shooting a 15-over 591 (301-290). Oklahoma sits at 26-over 602 in third-place after a pair of 301 rounds, holding a one stroke lead over both Arizona and TCU in fourth.

The Boilermakers' Junthima Gulyanamitta sits in first in the individual standings, shooting a pair of 69s on the day to sit at six-under for the tournament. She leads Oklahoma's Ellen Mueller by five strokes heading into the final day of competition. Tantanavivat continues her quest for her first top-five collegiate finish, sitting fifth nine strokes back.

Final round action gets underway at 8 a.m. at Evanston Golf Club, located at 4411 Dempster Street in Skokie. Admission is free to the public, while those unable to make it out can follow live scoring at Golfstat.com.
