EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sophomore Maria Mosolova, ranked No. 6 nationally, defeated Monica Arguello of Furman (6-2, 6-4) to capture the flight two singles title at the Furman Invitational in Greenville, S.C., on Sunday morning. It was NU's second championship of the weekend after junior Samantha Murray and senior Keri Robison claimed the flight two doubles crown at on Friday.
In the third flight singles final, senior and 11th-ranked Georgia Rose fell to Jackie Wu of Vanderbilt (6-1, 6-4). No. 30 Samantha Murray won her fifth-place match in the fourth flight singles competition, defeating No. 56 Courtney Ulery of Vanderbilt (7-5, 6-4).
Northwestern finished the weekend with an 8-12 record in singles matches and a 5-1 record in doubles play, with the lone loss coming in the first flight finals between two Wildcat pairs.
