EVANSTON, Ill. -- On the heels of its season-opening successes at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Northwestern returns to Evanston to host eight other schools in the Wildcat Fall Invitational this weekend. Grad student Alexander Thams, who won the singles title at the MTC, and freshman Eric Spector, who was the runner-up, are among those competing in this weekend's Flight A singles tournament.
Teams featured in the Wildcat Fall Invitational include Bradley, Depaul, Illinois State, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Toledo, and Western Michigan.
Participants will be guaranteed between three to five matches in singles play and two to four matches in doubles action, depending on how far they should advance. Play begins at approximately 11 a.m. on Friday. The schedule features one round of singles and two rounds of doubles on Friday, followed by two rounds of singles and one round of doubles on Saturday, wrapping up with two rounds of singles and one final round of doubles on Sunday.
Northwestern also received a stellar effort last weekend from junior Alex Sanborn and freshman Joshua Graves, who teamed up to capture the doubles crown at the MTC.
