NU Looks to Maintain Perfect Home Record This Weekend

Sept. 17, 2008

IN SHORT
Northwestern returns to Lakeside Field for a pair of games after three matches in four days in the Terrapin Invitational in College Park, Md. NU is 2-0 at home in 2008 thanks to wins over Miami (Ohio) and Sacred Heart. Saint Louis comes to town Friday for a 3 p.m. start time followed by Robert Morris Sunday at noon.

WILDCATS ON THE WEB
Fans who can't make it out to Lakeside Field for the game against Saint Louis on Friday can catch all the action live with a streaming broadcast of the game on NUsports.com. Live stats and play-by-play information will also be available for both games.

SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS
SLU, a member of the Atlantic-10 conference, is 2-4 and coming off a win at Ball State in its last outing. Sophomore midfielder Stephanie Ertzberger leads Saint Louis with four goals while senior Jacklyn McGranahan has fired a team-high 16 shots through six games. The Billikens, who finished 4-15 in 2007, have been splitting the goalkeeping duties between freshman Alex LaBarge and sophomore Katherine Deem after losing the program's all-time saves leader, Amy Wasserman, to graduation last year.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris is the second member of the Northeast Conference to come to Evanston in 2008, following the lead of Sacred Heart on Sept. 7. RMU is 3-4 and coming off a 3-2 overtime victory against Bryant where senior Sam Lawless scored two goals, including the game winner with two minutes remaining in the extra session. Lawless also scored the game winning goal in the waning seconds of a 2-1 victory against LaSalle, a game in which all three goals came in the final three minutes of regulation.

SERIES HISTORY
In 10 games against Saint Louis, Northwestern boasts an 8-1-1 series advantage against the Billikens. The two teams last met on Halloween in 2003 when NU shutout Saint Louis, 7-0, in Missouri. Northwestern has never faced the Robert Morris before 2008.

QUINN AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS
Senior Alexandra Quinn is alone in second place in the Big Ten with six goals scored. Quinn scored in four straight games from Sept. 5 against Miami (Ohio) through Sept. 13 versus American and has already equaled her 2007 season total when she led NU in goals. Only Caitlin McCurdy of Iowa (seven) has scored more goals than Quinn in the Big Ten.

DENYING THE OPPOSITION
Senior Emily Kyle currently sits atop the Big Ten in the saves category with 37, 11 ahead of second-place Jen Beaumont of Penn State. Kyle made a season-high 12 stops against Maryland and is now just two saves away from becoming the fifth goalie in Northwestern history to reach the 300-save plateau for her career.
