Former Wildcats Visit Campus for Career Seminar

Sept. 4, 2008

EVANSTON, Ill. -- In keeping with its mission of preparing student-athletes for life beyond football, Northwestern hosted the second edition of its Career Seminar on Wednesday. The seminar provides current players a chance to learn about post-graduate professional opportunities from former football Wildcats who work in a broad range of careers.

"This is just a great event for our football family and an unbelievable chance for our student-athletes to talk about their future plans with guys who were once in their shoes," said head coach Pat Fitzgerald. "It's great to see so many alumni back on campus connecting with our current players and explaining what steps they need to take toward being successful after Northwestern."

In the future, Northwestern football plans to continue hosting a Career Seminar three times a year for the benefit of its student-athletes. At this particular seminar, eight former Wildcats were on hand to talk about their jobs. The group included 2006 team captain Erryn Cobb, who now works in public relations, and 1985 graduate Daryl Newell, a professional in the retail banking industry.
