91 Student-Athletes Participate In Annual Commencement Ceremony

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Ninety one Northwestern student-athletes participated during the 150th annual commencement exercises on Friday evening. The ceremony took place outdoors at Ryan Field.

Student-athletes who took part in the honorary event represented all 19 varsity sports at Northwestern. The Wildcat football program had the most student-athletes in attendance with 18, while Northwestern men's and women's swimming teams had 14 honorees of its own.

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley addressed those in attendance as this year's commencement speaker. Daley also received an honorary doctorate of laws degree during the ceremony.
