Spring Sports Weekly Release #6 
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named Jake Goebbert (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) of baseball and Lauren Delaney (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) of softball as its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Goebbert posted a .615 batting average and 1.154 slugging percentage in NU's three wins at Iowa last weekend. He notched an on-base percentage of .737, drawing five walks with his eight hits.
Goebbert went 3-for-4, including two doubles and a home run, with three RBIs and four runs scored as NU won the series opener. With the game tied in the top of the eighth inning he ripped a two-run single to account for the game-winning hit. His four doubles upped his season total to 17, four shy of the school single-season record.
Delaney went a perfect 5-0 last week, earning the win in all five games while earning three shutouts, one combined shutout and her fifth no-hitter of the season, a total which ties three-time All-American Lisa Ishikawa for the school single-season record.
Delaney fanned 47 batters in 26 innings (a monstrous 12.7 K's per seven innings clip) and recorded a 0.54 ERA for the weekend. She now has 315 strikeouts on the year, becoming the third Wildcat to reach the 300-K plateau in school history.
