Northwestern tries to build on its two-game winning streak Tuesday as it hosts Chicago State at Rocky Miller Park. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.

The Wildcats lead the all-time series with the Cougars 24-6. The most recent meeting between the schools was a memorable one as NU posted a record-setting 36-10 win at Chicago State April 15, 2003. David Gresky and Anthony Wycklendt went a combined 13-for-15 with 13 runs scored and 19 RBI.
Northwestern (7-14, 3-5 Big Ten) is coming off a series split against Michigan State last weekend. The Wildcats dropped the first two games of its home-opening series, but rallied back to take the final two contests. MSU jumped out to a 7-0 lead en route to a 12-6 victory in Friday's opener. Tony Vercelli (Wilmington, Ill./Wilmington) came off the bench to record a double and his first home run of the season for the Wildcats. Jonathan Purcell (Oceanside, Calif./Vista) pitched in relief and retired 10 straight batters during one stretch.
In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, Michigan State pulled away late for a 6-1 win. The 'Cats bounced back in the nightcap to earn a 3-2 victory behind a complete-game five-hitter by Bo Schultz (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park). The senior struck out six, while Chad Noble (Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall) singled home the winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Roberts and Noble each had two hits.
NU then came from behind in Sunday's finale to earn a thrilling 5-4 victory. Jake Owens' (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) double with one out in the bottom of the ninth scored Tommy Finn (Valparaiso, Ind./Andrean) from first with the winning run. Matt Havey (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola) surrendered one hit in 3.2 innings of relief to earn the win, while Chris Lashmet (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) drove in three runs.
Chicago State sports a 3-25 record this season. The Cougars are coming off an 11-9 loss Sunday at Jackson State, surrendering six runs in the bottom of the ninth.
Josh Appelbaum leads all CSU players with a .288 batting average, six home runs and 21 RBI. Michael Storrs leads all regular pitchers with a 3.65 earned run average in 12 appearances.
