EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named Kyle Bubolz (Waukesha, Wis./Ozaukee) of men's swimming and Tammy Williams (Roscoe, Mo./Osceola) of softball as its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Bubolz closed out his career with five All-America honors at the 2008 NCAA Championships, helping Northwestern to a 12th-place team finish with just a four-member squad. Bubolz took fourth in the 100 fly with a school-record time of 45.74 while also qualifying for the championship heat of the 100 free, where he finished seventh with a career-best 43.40.

Bubolz won the consolation final of the 50 free with a personal-best time of 19.47 and also was a member of the All-America 200 free and 400 free relays. Bubolz concluded his time at NU as a 19-time All-American, third-most in school history.

Williams began the Big Ten season with a bang, leading Northwestern to a 4-0 start by batting .600 with six runs scored, 11 RBIs, three home runs (including two grand slams in a single game), a .733 on-base percentage and a 1.500 slugging percentage.

Williams began the weekend with a 3-run home run Friday in a win against Wisconsin before going a perfect 2-for-2 with two walks (one intentional) in Saturday victory over the Badgers. Williams then went 3-for-3 in the second game of a Sunday doubleheader against Minnesota, tying the NU single-game record for RBIs with eight while clubbing two grand slams in a come-from-behind, 17-8, six-inning win.
