EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University has announced future non-conference football games with Vanderbilt University, Illinois State University and the U.S. Military Academy.

Starting in 2010, the Wildcats will begin a four-year series with Vandy. Northwestern plays in Nashville on Sept. 4, 2010, and then plays host to the Commodores on Sept. 8, 2012. The series then runs the following two years, in Nashville in 2013 and in Evanston in 2014. Northwestern and Vanderbilt have not met on the gridiron since 1952.

Also in 2010, Northwestern will entertain Illinois State on Sept. 11 in the Wildcats' home opener. This will be the 'Cats' first meeting with the Redbirds, who are a member of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA).

Northwestern also is announcing a home-and-home series with Army. The Wildcats will make their first trip to West Point since 1988 when they play there Sept. 17, 2011. Army makes the return trip to Evanston on Sept. 5, 2015. Northwestern and Army have met four times previously, with the last being the 1988 contest at West Point.
