Complete Big Ten Network Softball Broadcast Schedule (PDF Format) ![]()
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Six Northwestern softball games will be nationally broadcast live on the Big Ten Network in 2008, including three games at renovated Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
The Wildcats first will appear at 6 p.m. CT Friday, April 11 in an away game at Illinois. Northwestern then returns home for a BTN broadcast at 3 p.m. CT, Tuesday, April 22, for a Chicagoland match-up with Illinois-Chicago. Please note, that 3 p.m. CT start time is a change from the originally publicized 4 p.m. CT start.
Both ends of No. 7 Northwestern's showdown at fellow Big Ten favorite No. 12 Michigan will be televised live beginning at 11 a.m. CT Sunday, April 27. The Wildcats' final two home games of the year May 3 and 4 against Michigan State also will be live on the Big Ten Network.
The Big Ten Network will broadcast 25 conference softball games in 2008 in addition to the championship of the Big Ten Tournament May 10. Softball has consistently been one of the most popular and fastest growing televised sports nationwide in the past few years, with Northwestern appearing on national TV 12 times in the last two years alone. When NU faced Arizona for the national title in 2006, the Women's College World Series beat the Stanley Cup finals in head-to-head ratings.
