EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named Kevin Coble (Phoenix, Ariz./Scottsdale Christian Academy) of men's basketball and Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) of women's tennis as its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Coble scored 21 of his game-high 29 points in the second half of Northwestern's 68-59 win Wednesday against Texas-Pan American at Welsh-Ryan Arena. With the Wildcats trailing by four at halftime, Coble put NU on his back and carried the 'Cats to a nine-point victory.

Sunday at No. 11 Indiana, Coble scored 12 points and led NU on the boards despite missing time in the first half with foul trouble. Northwestern cut IU's lead in the second half to two, 52-50, with under 12 minutes to go, but could not get any closer.

Rose defeated third-ranked Amanda McDowell in three sets Saturday to put No. 7 Northwestern ahead for good in its 6-1 win over No. 1 Georgia Tech. With the team score tied, 1-1, the ninth-ranked Rose dominated the last two sets to take her match at No. 2 singles.

She surrendered only three games to help the Wildcats defeat the defending national champions. Rose is undefeated in dual play and boasts a 19-4 record on the season.
