Northwestern Ranked Fifth In Latest <i>InterMat</i> Tournament Strength Rankings

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern is ranked fifth in the latest edition of the InterMat Tournament Strength Rankings. The ranking is the Wildcats' highest of the season. Northwestern, ranked 10th in the latest national poll, gets ready to host No. 8 Penn State Friday at 7 p.m.

With 58.5 points in the latest tournament strength rankings, Northwestern sits 2.5 points behind fourth-ranked Oklahoma State. Iowa maintains the top spot with 101 points. Last year, the Wildcats finished fourth at the NCAA Championships, tying the best finish in program history.

Northwestern wrestlers appear all over the latest individual rankings. Brandon Precin is ranked fifth at 125 lbs., Ryan Lang is fourth at 149, Dominic Marella cracked the top-20 at 165, Nick Hayes sits 12th at 174, Mike Tamillow is third at 197 and Dustin Fox is still the nation's top-ranked heavyweight.

NU hosts No. 8 Penn State at 7 p.m. Friday at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
