EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern puts its 3-1 record on the line at 7 p.m. Friday against Butler at the Combe Tennis Center. The match-up will be a first for the two programs.
Sophomore Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) has led the way so far for NU with a 4-0 record, breezing through the competition for a Wildcat point. The Wildcats as a whole have pummeled their competition with 6-1 wins against Ball State and Chicago, while taking the match against UIC 4-0. The 'Cats' only stumble came in a hard-fought match against Louisville, where the Cardinals won several sets in tiebreakers to take the win.
Butler, meanwhile, has gotten off to an 0-3 start, losing its matches by a combined 21-0 score. The Bulldogs' first seven matches are on the road with the first three coming at Western Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State.
Northwestern next hosts Notre Dame and Bradley before heading back on the road.
