EVANSTON, Ill. -- A school-record 18 football Wildcats have been named Academic All-Big Ten selections, announced today by the conference office.
The honoree total tops the previous school mark of 16 set a year ago. Football's 18 award winners contributed to NU's six fall programs setting a school record with 68 total Academic All-Big Ten winners, the second-most per sport in the conference this year.
To earn Academic All-Big Ten recognition, an athlete must be in his/her second year at the institution, letter in his/her sport and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
In addition to being named Academic All-Big Ten, juniors C.J. Bachér (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit), Eric Peterman (Sherman, Ill./Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin) and Phil Brunner (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) along with sophomore Adam Hahn (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) were named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selections earlier in the year.
