EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Ryan McIntosh (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) has been named the Big Ten Diver of the Week following his performance at the talent-laden Georgia Fall Invitational last weekend.
McIntosh took on divers from ranked foes No. 5 Florida, No. 9 Georgia and No. 14 Virginia at the six-team Invite, winning the platform event, taking third on the 1-meter board and finishing fifth in the 3-meter competition. His career-best score of 335.35 on the platform crushed the field by more than 55 points and earned him a ticket to NCAA Zones.
The honor is the second of McIntosh's career after he also earned the award on Nov. 15, 2005, as a sophomore. The accolade also is the second for Northwestern this season after junior Alex Kiaie (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) won the nod on Nov. 20.
