EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern juniors Eric Peterman (Sherman, Ill./Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin) and John Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif./Bellarmine Prep) have been named to Rivals.com 2007 All-Big Ten team. Both players earned spots on the league's second team.
Peterman was one of the keys to the Northwestern offense, which led the Big Ten in total offense. He was the Wildcats' top receiver, catching 66 passes for 744 yards and three touchdowns. The two-time Academic All-District honoree concluded the year with a team-best 10 receptions for 120 yards at Illinois. His 66 catches are the seventh-best single-season figure in school history.
Peterman also was one of NU's top special teams players, totaling seven tackles and a forced fumble, while averaging 6.1 yards per punt return.
Gill led all NU defensive linemen with 50 tackles, which included a career-high 10 stops against Michigan on Sept. 29. He notched four pass sacks, which ranked second among all Wildcats. Gill also added three pass deflections and a fumble recovery.
Gill received honorable mention All-Big Ten honors from both the league's coaches and media earlier this month.
