EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University's Drake Dunsmore (Lenexa, Kan./Saint Thomas Aquinas) was named to The Sporting News' Freshman All-Big Ten team today.
Dunsmore, a reserve superback (a combination tight end/fullback in NU's offensive system), played an average of 20 plays per game and finished the season with 11 receptions for 141 yards. His 12.8 yards per reception average ranked third on the team among players with 10 or more catches.
Dunsmore totaled a career-best 70 receiving yards (two catches) against Duke. He also had a pair of receptions for 21 yards vs. Purdue and two catches for 20 yards against Eastern Michigan.
Dunsmore also played on several special teams units, and finished the year with six tackles.
