EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern begins the 2007-08 season at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, with a combined dual meet against Indiana at the Norris Aquatics Center. The contest has been chosen as Swimming World Magazine's Meet of the Week, and will be featured on their Web site.

The Northwestern men enter the year ranked No. 18 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) dual meet poll after finishing last season with a perfect 8-0 record in duals. Indiana is ranked No. 8 in the nation in the first poll of the year.

The Wildcats return three All-Americans from a year ago, including seniors Kyle Bubolz (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) and Bruno Barbic (Zagreb, Croatia/V. Gymnazija), who made up half Northwestern's 2007 national champion and NCAA-record-breaking 400 medley relay.

Also returning is All-American Eric Nilsson (Weston, Mass./Weston), who figures to be a force in the distance free and 200 fly for NU this year.

The Wildcat women have a contingent of five NCAA qualifiers back from a year ago, and return nearly all of a team that competed without a single senior in 2006-07. Led by three-time All-American and current U.S. National Team member Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood), the Wildcats have depth across the board from a super sophomore class in addition to another deep freshman group.

In addition to Hupman, sophomores Kassia Shishkoff (Raleigh, N.C./St. David's School), Emily Wong (Nepean, Ontario/St. Joseph's) and Jenn Kocsis (Omaha, Neb./Marian) are back after comprising NU's 800 free relay that took down the 13-year-old school record in the event and finished with the silver medal at the Big Ten Championships.

Northwestern received votes from the coaches in the season's first CSCAA dual-meet poll, while Indiana enters the weekend ranked No. 23.

As part of the Swimming World Magazine Meet of the Week program, Northwestern will have a live video stream of Friday's meet available at NUsports.com via CSTV Online's premium All-Access.

Following Friday's meet, Northwestern takes on Illinois-Chicago at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Norris Aquatics Center.
