EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern hits the road for the third time in the first four weeks of Big Ten play this weekend for tilts Friday at Purdue and Saturday at Indiana. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats are coming out of a brutal first stretch of matches during the conference season, taking on four ranked opponents in their first six contests. Northwestern currently is 1-5 in the conference with some ground to make up, but NU has a history of turning things around against its next two opponents.
In 2005, with a 3-9 Big Ten record, Northwestern came from two games down to defeat then-No. 15 Purdue and spark a six-match winning streak that led NU into the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats have won their last five meetings with the Hoosiers dating back to 2004.
Since stepping back into the starting lineup last week against Michigan State, senior Brittney Aldridge (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) has been outstanding in the middle. She recorded her second-career double-double with 12 kills and 10 blocks last week versus the Spartans, and currently leads the team with a .418 hitting percentage on the year.
Sophomore libero Kate Nobilio (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) had a strong outing last match at No. 16 Michigan, recording 24 digs in the three-game contest. Going head-to-head against the conference's leading digger in UM's Stesha Selsky, Nobilio out-dug her rival by six, and currently ranks 20th in the nation with 5.74 digs per game.
Senior Lindsay Anderson (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) reached the 1,300 kill plateau last weekend, and will move into eighth place all alone on Northwestern's career kills list with her next termination. She currently is tied for eighth at NU with 1,304 career kills.

Interesting Scheduling Note
This weekend's matches at Purdue and Indiana mark Northwestern's final foray into the Eastern Time Zone this season. All of the Wildcats' conference road matches through this weekend have been contested in ET, so with nothing but home matches and two road weekends against the western-most Big Ten teams remaining, NU is soon to be all CT, all the time.
