On Saturday, Sept. 29, a child from Bear Necessities, a Chicagoland foundation raising awareness around pediatric cancer joined the Wildcat volleyball team as their Special Guest for their game against Illinois. The young volleyball enthusiast had a small wish granted as she had the opportunity to tour the locker room, meet the players and coaching staff, get autographs and watch the game from press row. In addition, head coach Keylor Chan and the rest of the coaching staff showed their support of the foundation, sporting the organization's lapel pins and necktie. Head football coach Pat Fitzgerald also wore a matching Bear Necessities tie at the Northwestern Gridiron Network luncheon on Friday, and a lapel pin at the game against Michigan on Saturday to raise awareness is the No. 1 cause of death for children fifteen and younger. Bear Necessities will be the main beneficiary for Northwestern's Annual Dance Marathon, which will occur in March.
