Lui, Murray March on at All-American Main Draw

EVANSTON, Ill.-- After qualifying for the main draw without having to play in any preliminary rounds, Northwestern's top-ranked player, Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore County Day) fell in the first round yesterday of the All-American Main Draw to Amanda McDowell of Georgia Tech 3-6, 0-6 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Joining Rose in the tournament were fellow Wildcats Sam Murray (Altrincham England/Altrincham Grammar) and Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid), who are currently playing in the quarterfinals of the doubles portion of the draw. Friday, the pair takes on Kristi Miller and Whitney McCray of Georgia Tech following an 8-5 victory over their first opponent, Kristina Nedeltcheva and Elena Gantcheva of UNLV.

In the qualifying singles consolation bracket, Murray marched on to the semifinals yesterday with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over her doubles partner Lui. Murray's match today comes against Alex Haney of Auburn.

While Rose, Murray and Lui complete their tour in Pacific Palisades, the rest of the Wildcats are in action at the Wildcat Invitational Friday through Sunday in Evanston at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
