Former Wildcat Standout Honored

Sept. 10, 2007

EVANSTON, Ill.-- At halftime of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Northwestern graduate Steve Tasker was inducted onto the Buffalo Bills' Wall of Fame. Tasker is now the 24th player to be honored by the Bills.

Tasker's unanimous selection onto the Wall comes after a career with the Bills in which he was selected to seven Pro Bowls, including six in a row as a specialist. In 1992, Tasker took home Pro Bowl MVP honors for his efforts.

Tasker shined throughout his career as a specialist, both returning kicks and playing on special teams coverage teams. Among his accolades, Tasker scored 10 career touchdowns, including one in a 1995 postseason game against the Miami Dolphins. He also became just the third player to ever block a punt in Super Bowl history.

The wideout/specialist was drafted in the ninth round in 1985 by the Houston Oilers and retired after 13 NFL seasons in 1997. Tasker is now a color analyst for CBS.
