Northwestern Men Post Top GPA in All of NCAA Division I, Both Teams Earn CSCAA Academic All-America Honors

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's men's and women's swimming squads have combined to be named the ninth-rated Academic All-America swimming program in the nation, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced Wednesday. The Wildcat men also were honored for posting the top GPA in all of NCAA Division I.

The Northwestern men accumulated a team GPA of 3.610 to be named the nation's top CSCAA Academic All-America men's team. Georgetown was second with a 3.500 while Dartmouth was third with a 3.400.

The Wildcat women also earned Academic All-America team accolades for the 2006-07 season with a 3.330 team GPA. Combined, the men and women posted a 3.455 GPA to become the ninth-rated academic swimming program in the nation.

All told, 78 men's teams and 111 women's teams picked up CSCAA Academic All-America team honors. Northwestern and Duke are the only BCS conference schools to finish in the top-10 in the combined standings.
