EVANSTON, Ill.-- Northwestern sophomore Sam Murray participated in the singles and mixed doubles portion of the 2007 World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand, on Aug. 9-12.
Murray, who won last year's Big Ten Freshmen of the Year award, fell in the singles tournament 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 to the No. 8 seed Melissa Torres from Mexico after receiving a first-round bye.
On Aug. 12, the Altrincham, England, native played in mixed doubles with Kenneth Skupski, but lost 2-3, 3-6 to the Czech tandem of Eva Hrdinova and Pavel Snobel.
