EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Chris Wilson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District at-large team today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He was named to the district's second team.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing, be a starter or key reserve and must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The at-large program consists of all NCAA recognized sports other than football, soccer, basketball, baseball and cross country/track and field. District 5 encompasses the states of Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin, along with the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.
A 2007 Byron Nelson Award finalist, Wilson concluded his Northwestern career last week at the NCAA Central Regional Championships. He recorded a 75.09 stroke average for 12 tournaments this past year and finished with a career average of 74.36, which ranks seventh on NU's all-time list.
Wilson, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, was the 2006 Big Ten medalist and a two-time All-Big Ten honoree (2005-06). He also earned the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award on two occasions (2005, 2007).
