EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) of men's golf and Garland Cooper (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) of softball its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Doyle equaled a career-best finish by placing fourth in an 80-player field at the Boilermaker Invitational this past weekend. Doyle's fourth-place effort helped the Wildcats finish second among 15 teams and earn several key wins over higher-ranked opponents.
Doyle fired rounds of 76 and 72 for a 4-over 148 in the tournament, which was shortened by 18 holes due to weather reasons. This is the first Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of Doyle's career.
