EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Eileen Canney (Paradise, Calif./Paradise) has been named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and the ninth time in her career.
Canney compiled a 3-1 record last week with a 0.30 ERA, striking out 34 in 23.0 innings pitched.
She began the week with a 12-strikeout, two-hit performance in an 11-1 win at Saint Louis. Canney again struck out 12 in a nine-inning, 2-1 win against No. 9 Michigan at the Women 4 Women Invitational in Louisville, Ky.
In her final outing of the week, Canney struck out 10 and walked none in a five-inning, 11-1 win against No. 25 California. The senior reached the 900-strikeout plateau for her career in the game, now ranking third in NU history with 905.
