EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's 10th-ranked women's tennis team returns to action after a month-long break with a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, to face Hawaii and fifth-ranked California. The 'Cats are 8-3 overall and own a 3-0 conference mark.
The Wildcats face host Hawaii at 9 p.m. CT Friday before facing fifth-ranked Cal at 5 p.m. CT Saturday.
Sophomore Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) paces the 'Cats in singles with a 9-1 overall mark. The 15th-ranked Rose is on a six-match winning streak and has knocked off several ranked opponents this season. She will take on Cal's fourth-ranked Susie Babos this weekend. Rose notched a straight-set win over the fifth-ranked singles player, Jenna Long of North Carolina, earlier this season.
Senior Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) has won four-straight at No. 3 and is 6-3 overall.
In doubles, Rose and Prousis are the nation's 10th-ranked tandem, own an 8-1 record and are winners of four-straight. They will get a chance to face Cal's fifth-ranked team of Susie Babos and Zsuzsanna Fodor.
Last Time Out
Northwestern took every match en route to a dominating 7-0 win over Penn State. Prousis extended her singles winning streak to four with a straight-set win at No. 3 singles.
The Wildcats captured the doubles point with a sweep of the three matches. Rose and Prousis blew past PSU's Lauren Holzberg and Sasha Abraham, 8-2.
At No. 2, freshman Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) and Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Keystone National), playing their second dual match together at the second spot, downed Sarah Lotto and Jenny Shular, 8-5.
The No. 3 team of junior Alexis Conill (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) and freshman Samantha Murray (Altrincham, England/Altrincham Grammar), topped Lauren McCarthy and Dorothy Dohanics, 8-5.
NU took all six singles matches with only one going to a third set. Rose extended her winning streak to six with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win over Andreea Niculescu at No. 1.
