This tournament represents Northwestern's first weekend without a ranked opponent on the schedule so far this year, and also features NU's first game outside of NCAA Division I competition since an exhibition against Tokyo on March 20, 2004, in Hawaii.
Three Wildcats will be making appearances in their home state this weekend. Sophomore All-American Tammy Williams (Roscoe, Mo./Osceola) joins freshmen Lauren Delaney (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) and Emily Haug (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) in returning to the Show-Me State for the Tiger Invitational.
Williams currently leads the 'Cats with a .500 batting average, 21 runs scored, 18 RBIs, an .818 slugging percentage and a .542 on-base percentage this year. She was named Big Ten Player of the Week on March 6 after leading NU to a 5-0 record at the Worth Invitational in the Wildcats' most recent game action.
Delaney leads Northwestern with a 1.19 ERA and a perfect 8-0 record featuring wins over four ranked opponents, including three against top-11 foes. Batters are hitting just .144 versus the freshman this season.
Haug has appeared in 14 games this season, earning four starts as the designated player. She is batting .250 (4-of-16) with a pair of pinch hits and one RBI.
