TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- In their final event before the dual season, the ninth-ranked Wildcats cruised through the Florida State Invitational. The 'Cats won three more doubles matches on Day Two and sophomore Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) finished on top of the singles standings with freshman Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) right behind in second place.
In doubles action Sunday, the pair of Alexis Conill (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) and Rose defeated Penn State's Jenny Shular and Sasha Abraham, 8-5. Big Ten Player of the Week Samantha Murray (Altrincham, England/Altrincham Grammar) and Lui knocked off PSU's Katelyn BeVard and Lauren McCarthy, 8-2, while Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Keystone National) and Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) defeated the Lions' Dorothy Dohanics and Leyla Morzan, 8-4.
In singles, Rose, Lui, and Jen Taylor (Mequon, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) all defeated opponents from Jacksonville.
Rose topped the singles standings with 23 points. Lui finished in second with 18. Matzenauer was the next Wildcat with 13 points, good for seventh. Murray, Ghazal and Robison all finished with eight points. In doubles points, Rose was the highest-placing Wildcat in fifth with eight points. Conill and Murray were right behind with seven and six points, respectively.
