Northwestern's women's fencing team will host the first of two NU Duals this season, this weekend at Patten Gym on NU's Evanston campus. The Wildcats have been in action six of the last seven weeks, but this is the first time the team will compete in dual competition.
In 2005-06, NU went 12-1 with its only loss to eventual National Champion Notre Dame. The Irish are not on this year's schedule as the Wildcats are slated to take part in 11 separate duals all day Saturday.
Northwestern returns a bevy of talent, including two All-Americans in senior Jessica Florendo and sophomore Sam Nemecek. Nemecek finished fifth at last season's national championship meet in the foil division, while Florendo placed eighth, also in foil. Senior Mai Vu took home placed 17th in sabre.
