EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern Head Coach Chris Regenberg has landed a pair of Midwest golfers, Ohio's Kelsey Lindenschmidt and Illinois' Rebecca Lederhausen, who will begin their collegiate careers at Northwestern in the 2007-08 season after signing National Letters of Intent.
"The Wildcat women's golf program is moving in a great direction with the addition of these outstanding players," Regenberg said.
Lindenschmidt, who hails from West Chester, Ohio, finished second at the Ohio High School Golf Championships as a junior in 2005. She was named to the 2006 HP Scholastic Junior All-America team and is the 43rd-ranked player in the 2007 recruiting class according to the NJGS.
"After an outstanding junior career we look forward to Kelsey achieving conference- and national-level success," Regenberg said.
A native of Hinsdale, Ill., Lederhausen finished third in the Illinois High School Golf Championships and is the 65th-ranked player in this year's recruiting class according to the NJGS.
"Rebecca is an outstanding all-around player, a great ball-striker and possesses exceptional course-management skills and mental poise," said Regenberg. "Rebecca will play a key role in our quest for a Big Ten title and NCAA national championship appearance next year."
The pair will join a Northwestern program that is coming off an extremely successful fall season, highlighted by a sweep of titles at the Lady Paladin as the 'Cats won the team title by 12 strokes and Alice Kim took home the individual title.
