EVANSTON, Ill. -- After beginning the season against No. 1 California two weeks ago at the Norris Aquatics Center, Northwestern will face its second-consecutive ranked dual-meet opponent at 3 p.m. CT Friday, Oct. 27, when it travels to No. 17 Indiana.
The Wildcats showed a ton of promise in their season-opening meet back on Oct. 12. Two-time All-American Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood) swam an NCAA 'B' standard 50.73 to win the 100 free against a pair of Golden Bears who will be teammates with her on the 2007 U.S. World University Games Team.
Meanwhile, freshman Kassia Shishkoff (Raleigh, N.C./St. David's School) won the 1000 free in dominating fashion with a 10:03.28, good enough to place her sixth on NU's all-time top-10 list after just her first collegiate swim.
Junior Katie Braun (Edina, Minn./Edina) turned in a pair of strong showings in the fly events, including a win in the 100 fly, and freshman Emily Wong (Nepean, Ontario/St. Joseph's) gave NU an impressive 1-2 punch in the sprint free events.
Two years ago in Bloomington, Ind., Northwestern defeated the then-No. 21 Hoosiers, 159-141.
