Columbus, Ohio -- Northwestern fell to No. 7 Ohio State, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon in Columbus. The 'Cats (6-8, 1-3) travel to Kent State Monday for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Golden Flashes.

"I thought we set the tempo of how we wanted to play the game early, with speed on the front line and our defense," Head Coach Kelly McCollum said. "We did very well with our fundamental skills and individual defense and stuck to our plan, unfortunately the difference in the game was finishing. I'm happy with how competitive our team was today."

Northwestern held the Bucks scoreless for the first portion of the opening stanza, keeping the ball at OSU's end of the field most of the time, but Ohio State found the back of the cage with 15 minutes remaining in the half. OSU added another goal before halftime, pulling ahead 2-0.

Ohio State held Northwestern's offense in check, only allowing eight shots while adding two more second-half goals to push the score 4-0.

OSU outshot Northwestern 19-8 but each took six corners.

Christina Foley (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) recorded four shots for the 'Cats, while Katie Charles (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) tallied two. Alexandra Quinn (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) and Alison Bullock (Boyds, Md./Stone Ridge) each registered a shot. Foley, Bullock and Charles were all credited with one shot on goal.

Goalkeeper Emily Kyle (San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University H.S.) recorded eight saves on the afternoon.
