KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Northwestern's 16th-ranked Wildcats are in 15th place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships after the first of three rounds. The annual tournament, which features several of the nation's top-ranked teams, is being held at the Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville.
The Wildcats were led by senior Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian), who fired a 5-over 76 on Friday. She is in 31st place.
Northwestern's top individual, senior Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood), who won last weekend's Lady Paladin Invitational, carded a 12-over 83 and is in 69th place.
The Wildcats are playing without Liliana Alvarez (Durango, Mexico/American School of Durango), who is competing for a national Mexican team in South Africa this weekend.
No. 10 Auburn holds a nine-stroke lead after the first 18 holes.
