GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Northwestern, ranked 17th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin index, holds a two-stroke lead over Augusta State and a four-stroke advantage over East Tennessee State after one round at the 36th Annual Lady Paladin Invitational.
The Wildcats' Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) shares the individual lead with Coastal Carolina's Araceli Felgueroso. Kim and Felgueroso both fired a 2-under 70 on a windy day, and hold a one-stroke lead over UNC Wilmington's Carmen Perez.
Northwestern's Liliana Alvarez (Durango, Mexico) is in 12th place with a 4-over 76, while Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) is in 19th place with a 5-over 77.
Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) and Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) are 35th and 45th, respectively, with a 7-over 79 and an 8-over 80. Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair), who is playing individually, is 26th with a 6-over 78.
Saturday's second round is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. with final round play scheduled for a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
