EVANSTON, Ill. -- ESPN has announced that Saturday's 11 a.m. football game at Wisconsin will be available via high-speed broadband service to all students, faculty and staff who have Northwestern IP addresses.
The game is being carried live on ESPN360, a broadband service available in nearly seven million homes nationwide via high-speed broadband connections with an ESPN-affiliated provider. (see information below for a list of ESPN affiliates)
"Having the Wisconsin-Northwestern game available on ESPN360 allows us to deliver a game nationally that would not have reached a national audience otherwise," said Paul Melvin, a spokesperson for ESPN. "Scheduling is always complex, but even more so this week because of the Major League Baseball playoffs and their impact on scheduling.
He added, "Both Northwestern and ESPN are dedicated to bringing this game to students and other NU fans on campus."
Fans cannot purchase a subscription to ESPN360. They get the service free of charge, but must receive high-speed Internet service from an ESPN-affiliated service provider. This weekend's game is not a part of the ESPN GamePlan pay-per-view package.
This is the first Northwestern football game to be carried live via the internet.
